CALA DI VOLPE
Welcome to Sardinia, on the Emerald Coast, to check the rebirth of La Cala Di Volpe, designed by the Moinard Bétaille agency.
Hotspot for VIPs in the 60s and 70s, this jewel is signed by Jacques Coüelle.
Famous architect-sculptor, Antti Lovag mentor, who thought houses had to adapt to nature and not the other way around.
A message with a very present meaning and which led to these whimsical, almost troglodyte spaces.
The renovation of this hotel, which hosted James Bond, was quite a challenge, especially as it was meant to be uninhabited.
Respect the soul of the place while having a smooth circulation.
Remain faithful to the importance of nature for Jacques Coüelle.
Make the interiors warm with very raw existing materials.
So many challenges, largely rised, for a unique decor that inspires us.

STAINED GLASS IS BACK
Ancient know-how, with a strong religious background, and very popular in the Art Nouveau period.
Stained glass, dear to Jacques Couëlle, is making a remarkable comeback.
As a partition, on lighting fixtures or as a decorative object, it is a great asset to provide privacy while preserving brightness.
THE CEMENTED DESK
Perfect for a tailored workspace, the cemented desk has the advantage of being easy to clean and it blends into the space.
You can also give it the shape you want and customize it endlessly thanks to the several material options.
Here in granite with asymmetrical drawers that we love.
DON'T FORGET THE CEILING
When choosing your interior coverings, you think about the floor and side walls first.
But it is essential not to forget the ceiling.
To widen a room, we will put it in the same color as the floor, in dark tones.
Or like here, choose a paint or material color darker than the side walls to reduce the height of the room and create a cocoon effect.
WATCH YOUR STEP
As in many houses in the Alpes Maritimes, Jacques Coüelle used to cover the stairs with enameled tiles.
A detail they kept at Casa Di Volpe that gives us decorative ideas.
Perfect decoration tip to revamp an aging staircase.
Or to give it depth by contrasting the risers.
WALL LAMPS IN A ROW
In an entrance or a corridor, lighting is essential even though they are crossing points.
We generally recommend one central lighting source plus a softer secondary light.
If pendants and spotlights are usually the main choices, you can also go for wall lamps which will expand the space while adding depth.
They will also provide effective lighting without dazzling you.
THE MINERAL BATHROOM
When it comes to finding inspiration, sometimes the most obvious move is to keep it simple.
Like the facades of Jacques Coüelle's houses, the bathroom offers an organic decor where everything seems to have been polished by water.
Plaster and granite cover the space with reassuring curves reminiscent of pebbles.
OVER SOFT SEATS
To bring conviviality and comfort to the very raw existing decor, the Moinard Bétaille duo focused heavily on textiles.
Thus, they build-up cushions and the seats are thick and soft.
Which reminds us of the latest Milanese collaborations like Faye Too Good and Tacchini.
BLACK POWER
In a very refined white decor, black finds its way in the restaurant area.
A hard shade to handle and too often wrongly neglected.
But it is the perfect color to create a sophisticated decor on its own.
Here, we play with materials, associating it with natural wood which gives it roundness.
And we choose beautiful, elegant pieces like this enameled lava table.
