BROWNS
Coffee, Walnut, Caramel, Chocolate: the inviting palette of browns is becoming iconic.
Nothing surprising when we know that browns are among the most welcoming and warm colors.
As an organic palette, it reminds us of the surrounding nature and it also has the power to sooth us.
With all its different shades, browns have become a key color in interior design and don't play the second role anymore.
We like to replace black by dark browns in a neutral decor to have less contrast.
And in a lighter shade, it will be less dull than a beige color.
Let's talk about the palette of browns and how to use it perfectly !
01
BRING BROWN THROUGH MATERIALS
Using brown as a painting color can be risky as it will impact a lot the natural light.
If you want to play it safe, bring in browns in your interior by using the many fabric options you have in this color range.
Wood, Leather, Terracotta, Smoked Glass: pick furniture and accessories in these materials.
If you want brown to take a bigger place in your home, you can choose wall or floor coverings.
And keep in mind that having a darker color on the floor vs the walls will create a soothing decor.

MIX BROWN SHADES
Brown has a strong position among other colors thanks to its various shades.
Indeed, you can use it in every room but also choose to mix different shades of brown to create a warm and rich decor.
We usually prefer to use light browns mixed with beige colors in the living room but you can use darker shades and create a contrast in the bedroom.

USE BROWN WARM TEXTILES
Velvet, Wool, Mohair, Bouclé: we love to pick warm fabrics in brown colors to bring in more comfort.
It can be through accessories or furniture but we advise you to choose them depending on your interior style and the seasonality.
If a velvet couch will sit perfectly in a 70's living room, we recommend to select cushions and plaids if you live in warm regions so you can change them after wintertime.

USE THE RIGHT SHADE IN THE BATHROOM AND THE KITCHEN
Browns are full of qualities, but depending on the shade, it can create a negative feeling.
Indeed, dark shades can remind us of dirt and therefore we'll avoid using them massively in the kitchen and the bathroom.
A luminous tan shade will work better for a painting or a credence color for instance.
Note that if you bring in dark brown with wood on the floor or for the furniture, it will nevertheless work perfectly like in this walnut kitchen.

GET FEMININE ELEMENTS IN
Brown, especially in dark shades, is considered as a masculine color.
Therefore, pay attention to the 70/30 balance in between feminine and masculine elements.
Among feminine options, you can go for round shapes for the furniture.
If your whole decoration is full of wood and leather pieces, then bring in a lot of textiles.
But you can also choose to mix browns with pastel colors like a butter yellow for instance.
